Bolivia is only a short interlude in our trip. Therefore, I will not write more than necessary. Take a look at the photos (I’m putting them under the post) and wait for the next post. Probably in a day or two we will reach Puno, from where we will be able to show you the islands floating on Lake Titicaca, where the Indians live. Of course, it will not be the only place in Peru that we will visit.
In Bolivia, passing the capital, La Paz (visiting the witches’ bazaar, of course, see the photo of the magical ingredients) we reached Copacabana. And it’s not the famous beach in Rio, it’s a small town on Lake Titicaca. We are already at an altitude of nearly 4,000 meters. Agnieszka tolerates heights very well, I get out of breath even when I say a longer sentence. I feel a headache that a whole bunch of painkillers don’t help with.
However, it is not that I am deprived of a remedy for very troublesome ailments. They are helped by coca leaves, which you can throw or drink as a tea, sitting on the terrace of the restaurant and admiring the views of Titicaca. The pain goes away instantly, as well as nausea. However, if you are hoping for effects other than curative, you will be disappointed. It is true that coca leaves are used to obtain a drug, but in their natural form, they do not give narcotic effects.
You probably remember, just in case, I’ll remind you. Everywhere in Latin America it is worth haggling. In Copacabana we got a charming, two-level apartment with a view of the lake for 1/3 of the price.
