If you haven’t learned to bargain yet, you will complete your education at Taxco. The city is Mexico’s silver center. You can spend the whole day visiting dozens of shops, with real works of art, and set aside hours to haggle until you drop. Believe me, nothing will make you happier than buying a beautiful item for a fraction of the price displayed in a shop window. Long-lasting fairs also seem to give great pleasure to sellers.
Taxco is also a city of narrow, very steep streets. If you haven’t mastered starting uphill, don’t come here by car. Don’t try to drive here if you can’t avoid oncoming cars “as thick as a piece of paper”. And finally, make sure you have very good insurance, covering any scratches and dents. Decorating the car with numerous scratches seems to be one of the (by no means optional) attractions in this beautiful town. If you are in Mexico, Taxco is a must-visit place. You won’t see such views anywhere else.
Our first day here was only spoiled by a minor incident. The need to find a dentist. However, visits to several offices made the toothache go away “like a hand”. The sight of antique dental tools will scare away the toughest guy. Asking for anesthesia is a sign of weakness here and brings shame to the man.
