The city has its own airlines. They are proudly called Nazca Lines Airlines. They fly small, 4-seater Cessnas, and the pilots reportedly have all the necessary certificates and licenses. Anyone who gets on such a small plane for the first time certainly has similar feelings to mine. The fears are justified. But the euphoria at the sight of the Nazca plateau reduces it to a slight anxiety. I try not to think about my fear and bravely pack into the plane.
The pilot hastily informs us about emergency procedures. In fact, they are limited to one. If we are going to jump out of the plane, the first to do it is the passenger sitting in the front seat. The rest, if it works out.
After a few growls, the machine accelerates, forcing us into the seats, to move into the sky after a few seconds. Not counting the jumps, we smoothly rise above the plateau. After a few minutes of flight, when we already see the first of the drawings, the pilot puts the plane on the wing without any warning, reaching a tilt of 50 degrees. Frames from my life begin to fly before my eyes… Is this the end? No, this is just the beginning of the experiences that await us. The tilt is to allow us a better view. On the right we see a drawing resembling a monkey. I am woken up from my stupor by the voice of the pilot, who, tilting the machine to the right, explains to us what we see below. He tries, but does not have to, remind us that a small drawing resembles a monkey, and the shape of a spider is nothing more than a spider.
There is no chance that I will repeat it, but Marek is in his element. He leans forward as if trying to improve his view by poking his head out of the window.
“Did you see it?” he asks every now and then, “yes,” he nods vigorously, wishing that these stunts would finally end.
Unfortunately, in order to diversify the ride, the pilot still gives us a ride on the devil’s carousel. He wants me to see everything very well. Do you remember that the first to jump out of the plane is the passenger sitting in the front seat? I’m sitting in the back and I don’t have a chance to escape. Fortunately, the flight does not last long and I am relieved to stand with both feet on the asphalt of the runway.
Despite these unusual attractions, I saw quite a lot. The view of the plateau from above is very impressive. If there is good light, you could admire the lines endlessly, wondering how they did it?
